PHARMAPLAN(Switzerland)-TTP Group / Basel, 24. August 2020: The Montreux site of Pharmaplan Switzerland celebrates its 10th anniversary – We congratulate and tell the exciting story of how a single project turned into our successful French-speaking Pharmaplan-site:

The French-speaking region of Switzerland has become the “Biotech Valley” of the country. Starting with Serono, at that time the third largest biotech company in the world (later Merck Serono SA) – more and more production companies are now clustering between Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Geneva.

The US pharmaceutical company BMS has also discovered the region and established its European headquarters there. Other multinational companies such as Takeda Sàrl from Japan and the Belgian UCB FARCHIM SA produce biotechnological drugs in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

Experience has shown that French-speaking Switzerland is a territory that is more difficult for the German-speaking industry to access. Apart from the distance, the natural language barrier is an obstacle for German-speaking companies to establish themselves in French-speaking Switzerland.

But when Stéphanie Sénéchal moved from the NNEPharmaplan site in France to Switzerland, an opportunity arose. In 2009, Stéphanie Sénéchal proceeded her career at NNEPharmaplan Switzerland as head of the GMP department. With the support of Gunter Feddern, emeritus managing director, she soon had several customer appointments with UCB FARCHIM SA, BMS and Vifor Pharma SA in French-speaking area of Switzerland. As a result, the management of NNEPharmaplan Switzerland under Stefan Berg decided to open an office in French-speaking Switzerland.

Due to the proximity to Merck Serono SA, the city of Vevey was chosen as office location. Only one year after moving to Switzerland and having the first sales appointments, in February 2010 Stéphanie Sénéchal became head of the new Montreux office.

Stéphanie Sénéchal soon staffed a team with whom she carried out the first project as general design contractor for Debiopharm Research & Manufacturing SA to build a new “Central Utility Building”. Subsequently, the team rapidly expanded and further projects followed. 2011 the “Edelweiss project” for UCB FARCHIM SA in Bulle started – a greenfield project for large scale antibody production -, which is still a flagship project for Pharmaplan Switzerland today.

After two years, in 2012 the colleagues moved into a larger office in Montreux, which was extended by another floor in 2015. Today, the site is preferred partner for many major biotech players in the region, including Merck Serono SA, Takeda AG, UCB FARCHIM SA, Celgene International Sàrl, Debiopharm Research & Manufacturing SA, Ferring SA, Incyte Biosciences Technical Operations Sàrl and many more.

A special thanks to Stéphanie Sénéchal for her pioneering work, who has successfully managed the Montreux Office for 10 years, and congratulations to the entire Montreux team on the outstanding success!
